Karl Wagner
Regulatory Sciences
Karl Wagner, Ph.D., is a Senior Principal Scientist in Strategy, Engagement & Insights, Regulatory Sciences for Altria Client Services in Richmond, VA. In this role, he leads multiple activities supporting scientific engagement and regulatory compliance.
Dr. Wagner works with a range of stakeholders within the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the Cooperation Centre for Scientific Research Relative to Tobacco (CORESTA) to develop robust consensus standardized methods for the analysis of harmful and potentially harmful constituents in tobacco products. Dr. Wagner is the Administrator for the U.S. mirror committee (Technical Advisory Group) to ISO Technical Committee 126 Tobacco and tobacco products.
In prior roles, Dr. Wagner was accountable for groups that developed methods and generated data used for regulatory submissions. Karl also served in leadership roles in contract lab oversight and product stewardship managing analytical, in vitro, and in vivo studies. Prior to joining Altria, he served as the laboratory Directory for a successful startup contract laboratory.
