Yezdi Pithawalla, Ph.D., is an Associate Fellow within the Product Development organization for Altria Client Services (ALCS) in Richmond, VA.

In this role, he integrates cross-functional teams of experts to build and lead execution of the overall science plan and strategy in support of regulatory submissions for Altria’s next generation non-combustible platforms. As a regulatory professional, he champions early incorporation of regulatory considerations into strategic planning and workstreams initiatives focused on developing and expanding Altria’s portfolio of FDA authorized non-combustible products.

Prior to his current role, Dr. Pithawalla served as the Sr. Director of Analytical Sciences, Regulatory Affairs, where he provided scientific, operational and strategic leadership to a large team of scientists developing and utilizing standard and innovative analytical methods to generate laboratory data on Altria’s core and reduced risks products. From 2013 to 2017, he was Sr. Director, Modeling & Simulation, where he led efforts to build and implement computational models to accelerate development of reduced harm products, optimize manufacturing processes and facilitate regulatory compliance.

Dr. Pithawalla has authored more than 35 scientific peer-reviewed publications and over 80 presentations at national and international scientific meetings. He is currently the recipient of 17 U.S. patents. He is passionate about growing next generation scientists and has served as the Elected Chair, and in several other leadership positions, within the Virginia Section of the American Chemical Society. He initiated and manages the Altria Fellows program, which provides fellowships to graduate students and summer research internships to undergraduates in the Chemistry Dept. at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
