At Altria, the adult tobacco consumer is at the center of everything we do. In addition to supporting the science and evidence for applications to the Food and Drug Administration, our team monitors usage of tobacco products by adult tobacco consumers as well as underage persons through three national surveys:

Adult Tobacco Consumer Tracker

Since 2013, the Adult Tobacco Consumer Tracker (ATCT) has provided timely information on the total prevalence of adult tobacco consumers in the U.S. as well as in the major tobacco product categories.

Discarded Pack Surveys

We share the goal of reducing tobacco-related death and disease. But we believe prohibition is not the answer. We conducted research to better understand the marketplace impact of bans on flavored tobacco.

Underage Tobacco Use Survey

For harm reduction to advance in U.S. it needs to be an off-ramp for adults who smoke and not an on-ramp for underage tobacco use. As part of our long-standing commitment to prevent underage use of tobacco products, in 2021, we launched the Underage Tobacco Use Survey (UTUS). This quarterly survey compliments government data by providing more timely awareness and usage data of both traditional and newer forms of tobacco products, which is shared with FDA as well as other public health stakeholders upon request.
