Altria Scientists joined stakeholders from industry, public health, and FDA in Atlanta on September 9-11 at the 77th Tobacco Science Research Conference. During the three-day conference, our scientists showcased their collective expertise and shared science supporting the role of smoke-free products in advancing harm reduction.

Dr. Vergara gave a compelling presentation entitled "Menthol, Blueberry, and Watermelon NJOY ACE Promotes Significantly Greater Complete Switching Compared to Tobacco-flavored NJOY ACE". During her presentation, Dr. Vergara shared a summary of evidence submitted to FDA that led to FDA’s determination of the NJOY Menthol being “appropriate for the protection of public health.” She also presented findings from the NJOY ACE 2.0 Bluetooth enabled PMTA submitted to FDA earlier this year.

Dr. Vergara also participated on the panel, “Weight of the Evidence: Assessing the Benefits of Smokefree Alternatives to Adults Who Smoke and the Risk of Underage Initiation.” Her presentation featured research demonstrating the benefit to the population of current smokers who completely switched to NJOY ACE.

Dr. Hong presented his poster entitled "Characterization of Nicotine Pharmacokinetics and Subjective Effects During Use of Heated Tobacco Products in Adults Who Smoke".

He shared how the data suggests the prototype Ploom® System can potentially provide U.S. adults who smoke with an option to advance tobacco harm reduction.

Elizabeth and Jenny shared their poster "Perceptions of Risk of the Marlboro Heated Tobacco Stick Products Used with the Ploom® Heated Tobacco Device among US Adults". They shared results of the appropriate understanding among intended and unintended audiences of the risks and potential benefits of the Ploom® System to adult smokers. Elizabeth and Jenny also shared how we believe the research supports a determination of "appropriate for the protection of public health" and may facilitate switching to a potentially reduced harm product.
We invite you to view the rest of the posters and presentations from the TSRC conference to see our latest research.
